About Covered.

Plain-English insurance information for people starting UK businesses

Covered. exists because business insurance information is mostly written by people selling business insurance. New founders don't need a sales funnel — they need someone to explain, in order, what the law requires, what contracts will demand, what things cost, and where the traps are. That's what this site and our starter guide do.

Who writes this

Covered. is written and maintained by an independent business operator with a background in strategy and company-building, drawing on official sources — GOV.UK, the Health & Safety Executive and the Association of British Insurers — alongside published provider data. Every guide lists its sources and the date it was last updated.

How this site is funded

Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and go on to buy a policy, we may receive a commission from the provider. It costs you nothing extra and doesn't change the price you pay.

Our editorial rule is simple: providers are listed on reputation and fit, never on commission. Several providers we recommend pay us nothing at all, and no provider can pay to be included, excluded or moved up the list. Affiliate links are marked on the pages where they appear.

What we are — and aren't

Covered. publishes general information to help you research insurance confidently. We are not an insurance broker or adviser, we are not authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority, and nothing here is financial or legal advice or a personal recommendation. Product details, prices and regulations change: always confirm current requirements on GOV.UK and HSE.gov.uk and read policy documents before buying. If you're unsure what your business needs, speak to an FCA-authorised broker — you can find one through the British Insurance Brokers' Association at biba.org.uk.
